May is Pediatric Stroke Awareness Month. Luke, who was one of the number of children that has suffered a pediatric stroke, had a big surprise waiting for him at Shepards Fire Department (Mooresville Station 4) in Mooresville, North Carolina. Luke's Mom, Elizabeth, was on the hunt for a photographer for a super secret event and I was curious! That is when Elizabeth asked me to document Luke meeting his FAVORITE super hero, Flash! I arrive to the fire station early in the morning on Saturday, May 19 and prepared the station for that special moment. Flash, Rick ( Luke's Dad) and I went over what the day entailed and how we were going to pull off such a big surprise. Flash jumped up in the Firetruck and waited for his que. Once Luke walked out into the bay, with no sighting of Flash, the firetruck mysteriously turned on! Luke ran over to see who may have turned the truck on, and to his surprise Flash jumped out of the Firetruck and greeted Luke. Luke was SHOCKED! He just could not wrap his mind around his favorite superhero standing right in front of him! Flash gave Luke a High Five and talked about some of their favorite things, Then the fun began! Flash, Luke and all of Luke's friends and siblings RACED agains Flash, they all ran as fast as they could! Then they posed for a couple of SUPER shots and ended the day hanging out with Flash! Luke even showed off his Lightning Bolt that the Hairstylist designed in his fresh new hair cut! It was such a great day full of smiles and I was so happy to be able to document such a great time in Luke's life!
